The Terengganu Islands: Tenggol, Kapas, Redang & Perhentian

Terengganu is one of the states of the Malaysian Federation and the capital of this state is called Kuala (rivermouth) Terengganu. This is the place where the traditional wooden boat building of the Malays had reached its golden age on the island of Duyong in the estuary of the Terengganu river.
Off the coast of this state lie the most beautiful islands of the peninsula in crystal clear water, fringed with life reef, with white sand beach shores, covered with virgin jungle and blessed with a mild climate. They are the object of the Naga Pelangi Pearlstring Hop.
Most of them have fresh water streams, but few of them were populated 30 years ago. Only on Redang and the smaller one of the Perhentians was a small fishing villige to be found then.

Today tourism has discovered these islands and all of them had their share of development. Since diving in those waters is excellent, dive centers established there. All of them have chalet type resorts with restaurants and some like Redang even airport and 5 star hotels. But still they are beautiful and well worth a visit!

Pulau Tenggol:

Tenggol is the southernmost of the Terengganu islands. Because of the good diving there, a small chalet type resort has opened during the SW-monsoon.

The Naga Pelangi Pearlstring Hop,* coming from Tioman, makes a stopover here to explore the diving sites.
